Match Report

Cambridge United 2 Wigan Athletic 0
It was a grim day at the office, aka away at Cambridge United on Saturday. A blue sky followed lashings of lunchtime rain and the host were generous and friendly to the away fans. There was even a gazebo to drink under. On the pitch they were the opposite – strong fast and aggressive, pressing the Latics into errors. It was not a surprise to be 2.0 down early on and if not for a Sam Tickle “scoop away from the line” save it would have been worse. Losing Jensen Wier early on certainly make it feel worse.

The value of a wily old forward was clearly demonstrated by Elias Kachunga who had a superb first half against the lads.

Three more changes at half time steadied the ship, yet Cambridge still managed to head onto the bar late on.

Injuries in the game, In the beak and on going effectively meant this was probably a walking wounded XI, which his some consolation and it does not remove the great run, particularly defensively, the lads had been on. Let hope for joy on Tuesday night.

Web Page Changes

You will see some changes to the website for this season.

To avoid cluttering up the front and booking page, a new page has been created for the latest news. Mess is not good anywhere, but particularly on websites, so we have taken some action to clean it up.

We have also removed the Twitter feed, like many websites around the world. Changes at Twitter/X have meant whilst you can still see posts in order in "X", when they are inserted as a feed older posts appear, rather than new ones. We will put the feed back onto the site once the issue is fixed, but as it has been a problem for over 8 months already it is safe to assume it will not be any time soon.
